Real stories

I used to have such a heavy heart. I was searching for help and stumbled upon this way of healing. In my journey, I have been supported while also being clocked in every way possible. I have been called out, but in such a loving way that it makes me want to explain my whole heart. Two years ago, I thought there was no way out of the pain I was feeling so I began to give up. That was until I got picked back up and realized there was a door wide open for me to run right out. This program is such an amazing opportunity to ease your mind. If you are going through a tough time, deal with anxiety, have trouble in school or are struggling in any type of way, check this program out and you too will find that you don’t have to feel this way forever.

Noia sessions with all the girls is the only place where I truly feel like I can be myself without pretending or holding anything back. When we’re all together, it’s such a different kind of relationship: we can relate to each other in so many ways, yet we all come with completely different stories, struggles, and emotions. There’s something so comforting about knowing we understand each other but still learn from each other at the same time. Through it all, the mentors have helped me through so much. They’ve listened and gently guided me to safe places when I felt lost. That space, and those people, remind me that I’m never alone and that God is always working through community.

I used to feel like there was no place in this world for me. Every door I opened was never the right door. And every time a door closed a piece of my heart would feel like it was being ripped out. This program, and these sessions where I would get the opportunity to sit with people my age and not talk surface but get into the real stuff, is how I realized all the doors I opened were bandaids. Not real solutions. After a year of having amazing mentors and true friendships, I got the news that I had to move. After moving states and being so heartbroken, my mentors and friends from Noia continued and continue to lift me up and support me even though we are far away. Noia is proof of that. Proof that when real relationships are built and community is grounded, even distance doesn’t separate when the heart is true and real.

Eight years ago I moved to the U.S. from South Africa. My entire life was thrown upside, as left behind all my family and friends. For years I felt like I needed to be the strong one of the family, never cry and express my feelings till last year when I came into Noia. While I am still in the thick of expressing everything, I have found that what Noia provides is really helping me along my journey.
