movement

Movement is another way girls learn to reconnect with themselves.

So many teen girls carry stress, anxiety, and emotion in their bodies without even realizing it. When life feels overwhelming, the body often holds what the heart and mind cannot yet express. Movement can help release that tension and restore a sense of calm, strength, and presence.

Gatherings can include sports of any kind, from volleyball to Pilates, yoga to dodgeball, or something as simple as a walk in NYC. Other get togethers may incorporate dance and expressive movement, which holds a powerful place for some girls as it allows them to explore emotion through motion rather than words.

There is no pressure to perform in any of these avenues and there is no expectation to “get it right.” The focus is simply on moving, breathing, and becoming more aware of their body.

Physical movement plays an important role in emotional well-being, this isn’t something newly discovered. It supports the nervous system, reduces anxiety, and helps restore a sense of balance. Beyond the research, movement reminds girls of something deeper: their bodies are not something to fight against or hide from, but something to care for, listen to, and inhabit with confidence.

Through movement, girls begin to experience what it feels like to release tension, reconnect with themselves, and rediscover the quiet strength already within them.
